The Experimental Factory is an Off-Spring of the University Magdeburg and is funded by the German National Science Foundation (NSF) and the European Union with more than 15 Million US-Dollars (or 15 Million Euro).

October 1998 to October 2001: Vice - President for Academic Affairs of the Otto-von-Guericke-University, Magdeburg. The support for the college of Engineering was increased and the number of engineering students grew significantly.

October 2002 to September 2004: Visiting Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the California Institute of Technology, (Caltech), Pasadena, USA

C. Research activities:

Since 1996 several research projects as principal investigator with a total funding of more than 2.5 Million Deutsche Mark (approximately 1.3 Million US-Dollars) and equipment valued at more than 1 million US-Dollars have been successfully finished or are still under way.

Principal recipient of the European Union and State of Lower-Saxony grant for building the Experimental Factory, Magdeburg in the amount of more than 10 Million Euro (approximately 10 Million US Dollars).

Principal recipient of a 3 Million grant for research equipment for the Experimental Factory, Magdeburg.

Principle investigator at the Experimental Factory in Magdeburg, Germany, overseeing 10 externally funded research projects.

Principal Advisor of many Master Thesis’ and 23 Dissertations, 7 Dissertations as Co-Advisor.
